đŸ€”đŸ§ Via woogtalksmusic Al Green’s sound seems unique to him, among his 70s soul peers. Why is that? When you listen to Al Green‘s music, you’ll notice a haunting tone that often involves that organ. But why don’t other artists produce that sound known as Memphis soul? A large part of that is due to the production of Willie Mitchell, who was Green’s producer through those peak years. Mitchell had a record label, Hi Records, which had the in-house band The Hi Rhythm Section. Their organist, Charles Hodges, played those beautiful high organ tones in those Al Green clsssics as well on other Hi Records artists music. #algreen #williemitchell #musichistory #woogtalksmusic #memphis #soul #70ssoul #classicrnb #hirecords #letsstaytogether #loveandhappiness #tiredofbeingalone #organ #organist
