🦷 What’s the most conservative option? 🤔
Dr Michael Frazis recently shares insights in how removing all tooth structure without building a core can actually be less conservative than a traditional crown.
In his own workflow, Dr Frazis will redo the occlusal reduction, carefully dismantle the restoration, and take everything back to clean, healthy tooth. From there, he places a core, or at minimum blocks out undercuts, before choosing a margin suited to the material, aesthetics, and occlusion.
The result?
Most of his cases land with an overlay crown, crownlay or onlay, depending on the situation. Traditional full-coverage crowns still have their place, but he rarely removes an entire cusp.
