Peak life experience right here. I ran 100 miles at the Bighorn 100 in the purest, most true-to-me, and values-aligned MO I could. It was radically fulfilling and a beautiful celebration of living.
For most of my life, I never imagined myself living long enough to see 31. It was a coincidence that the race landed on the weekend of my birthday. As an adult, I’ve never been one to celebrate my birthday—whether that be rooted in a desire to not be alive, not believing I’m worthy of celebrating, or just general insecurity. It’s a radical experience to now want to be here, to see a future, to be able to imagine seeing another birthday, and to be alive for moments like these I never could have imagined to be this beautiful.
I celebrated so, so much more than my birthday. I celebrated all of it. In my own way. For 100 miles.
