AI Overviews have produced numerous factual errors, forcing Google to remove false information, change its algorithms, and add sources. Unfortunately, there's no way to turn them off, but you can make a few tweaks so AI-infused answers are less prominent.
The easiest workaround? Add -AI (or any minus modifier) to your search query. This doesn't disable AI Overviews officially, but it disrupts how Google's algorithm triggers them – leaving you with a cleaner results page.
Another trick: click the Web filter just below the search bar to bring back traditional link-only results. If you don't see it, tap More and select it there. Just note: this view won't show YouTube previews or rich snippets – only basic web links.
Want to go a step further? Use a proxy site like
udm14.com, or make Google Web your default search engine in Chrome or Firefox using a custom search string. It takes a few minutes to set up, but once it's in place, you'll be searching AI-free by default.
