🎶 Have you ever listened to live music in Iceland? It turns out, it’s the thing I’d been missing from every other visit. After Akureyri, we sailed on the Saturn to Seyðisfjörður [pronounced: say this fiyor dur] in the East Fjords. It was our last stop in Iceland before a day and two nights at sea, bound for the Faroe Islands. I again opted for the shore tour. But this was no standard included tour. We were brought to Herðubreið community center in the middle of town for a “Viking Festival” of art, music, and food. It’s the same building that houses the town’s movie theater. There was sparkling wine with rhubarb syrup, smoked lamb on homemade flatbread, arctic char mousse, happy marriage cake, and the simplest: goat cheese on a biscuit with tiny fern leaves and more rhubarb jam. But it was so delectable that I may have gone back many times while I looked at the art, watched a movie with Icelandic landscapes, and sipped my wine. That rhubarb syrup!!
