Did you guess where I was?
Named after the president of US Steel, the SS William A. Irvin was a lake freighter that traveled the Great Lakes as part of US Steel’s lake fleet. It was launched in 1938, was the flagship of the fleet until 1975, and then was a general workhorse of the fleet until its retirement in 1978. It is now a maritime museum located in Canal Park and managed by the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, which means you can go check it out for yourself!
