What College Coaches Really Look For in a Player If I were a college coach recruiting you, these are the three things I would notice most. The third one might surprise you because people do not talk about it enough. 1️⃣ I would watch your overall ball control. Are you comfortable with both feet? Technical skills matter because mastering the basics is what makes a reliable player. 2️⃣ I would pay attention to how you respond to mistakes. Everyone misses a shot or loses possession sometimes, but your reaction tells me everything. Do you hang your head or immediately fight to win the ball back? Your body language shows your mentality. 3️⃣ Most importantly, I would watch how you treat your teammates. Coaches are building a team culture, not just collecting talent.
