Heavily armed immigration officers, including some on horseback, descended on MacArthur Park in Los Angeles on Monday. Mayor Karen Bass, whose office released footage of the officers, blasted the federal immigration enforcement sweep, calling it "outrageous and un-American." She added that when federal agents arrived, a children's summer camp was being held in the park. "To me, this is another example of the administration ratcheting up chaos by deploying what looked like a military operation in an American city," Bass said. "You can spin it anyway you like, but in my opinion, it's a political agenda of provoking fear and terror." The Department of Homeland Security declined to comment on the operation.
