Trevoris Sheppard, 28, was shot and killed while he was walking to his home in Hay Court on Oct. 19, 2021. No arrests were made at the time, but the case remained active with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit. In July, the case was presented to the grand jury and 22-year-old Frederick Dewayne Lewis was indicted on murder and committed to the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
