An Iowa man was deported to Guatemala over the Fourth of July weekend, leaving the community who quickly rallied behind him stunned, distraught and devastated. Pascual Pedro, a 20-year-old construction worker and West Liberty High School graduate, was deported sometime July 6 or 7 to the country he fled from as a teenager just days after he was detained at a routine check-in with United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials at their Cedar Rapids.
