DID YOU KNOW? 💡 The name “Faryab” is derived from Persian meaning “lands irrigated by the diversion of river water.” The ancient province of Faryab was named by the Sassanids, and is the birthplace of the renowned Islamic philosopher al-Farabi, as noted by the biographer Ibn al-Nadim. Al-Farabi, born in c.870 in Khorasan, modern-day Faryab province in Afghanistan, left an indelible mark on political philosophy, metaphysics, ethics, logic, and more, earning the title “Second Teacher” after Aristotle.
