Every year that I used to visit Kabul, I stepped into a world where books overflowed with stories and an ancient culture that thrived in every corner.
My trips felt like a journey back in time, a place where history and heritage were woven into everyday life. I loved Afghanistan—the people, the traditions, the warmth that welcomed me home. But everything changed with the Fall of Kabul. The Afghanistan I remember isn’t the one we see today under the Taliban’s rule. I’m doing my best to keep our culture alive, to tell the world that our true identity is much richer than what it seems. But we need your help to keep our stories alive.
Afghanistan today is a place where teenage girls can’t go to school, women can’t go to university, libraries have been closed to women, women can’t work or move freely, women can’t go to parks or choose what they wear.
My homeland is a prison today for more than 20 million women.
