We’re not a regular shelter… We’re the Asiyah Women’s Center, and when someone comes to us with nothing but the clothes on their back, we do everything we can to make sure they’re cared for. We get them clothing, make sure they have hot meals and groceries, and we help them get to all of their appointments. We advocate for them, we show up for them. The shelter system can be so harsh and sometimes, all a person really needs is to feel taken care of. We try to do that through the little things that matter.
