Militant fighters of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) began handing over their weapons near the northern Iraqi city of Sulaymaniyah on Friday.
It marks a symbolic but significant step in the decades-long conflict between Türkiye and the outlawed group.
In a statement, Deputy Chairman and spokesperson for the Justice and Development Party Omer Celik said: "At this stage, we have passed a critical milestone toward achieving the goal of a terror-free Türkiye. From here on, the process of dismantling the PKK in all its illegal branches and structures must be completed.”
