Despite uncertainty surrounding the availability of government funding for national parks, we are happy to share some #GoodNews! Last week, we transferred a second key parcel of previously privately owned land located within the boundaries of MissionsNPS to the NationalParkService. The land protects an additional portion of the historic acequia that irrigated mission farmlands, resulting in the expanded preservation of the cultural landscape views from the mission. This is critically important because the park is located in an area under pressure from encroaching development in #SanAntonio, the seventh-largest city in the country. This new addition builds on the 44 acres we transferred to NPS in 2021; together, the two parcels preserve both banks of the acequia and enhance the cultural landscape of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
