Assistant Curator Amy Hughes and Conservator Astrid van Giffen show us the magic of metameric glass which is featured in our newest exhibition, Brilliant Color! These stunning vessels shift hues under different lighting—sunlight vs. office light—thanks to rare earth metals added during the glassmaking process. 🌈🔬   Originally developed by Leo Moser and Dr. Franz Weidert in the 1920s, this color-changing effect is enhanced by varying the glass thickness.
