My name is Cam Walch, and these are my phases: This one’s a bit long so bear with me. The story of how Brian and I Prevail grew was one of the biggest inspirations to me in pursuing my dream, and Brian’s new project, Scatterbrain, has continued to do so. A phrase Brian has coined with this project is “You are Scatterbrain,” and it’s something I’ve identified heavily with. Our brains can be powerful, but also our own worst enemy, in my case it’s given me more creative ideas than I know what to do with. But on the flip side, it’s resulted in overthinking, self-criticism, doubt, fear, and much more, leading to several instances of just scrapping every song, mix, or project I’ve worked on and starting from scratch because it just didn’t feel right or good enough. Even now, I struggle with things like being in the same room when people listen to my songs or doing any sort of vocals in front of people.
