🇺🇸Upon the U.S. entering World War II, St. Augustine became a training center for the U.S. Coast Guard as well as an important coastal defense. From the top of St. Augustine’s lighthouse, U.S. Coast Guardsmen could watch for enemy activity — particularly German U-boats in the area.
The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum features a WWII exhibit in the former Coast Guard barracks built on the Light Station property during the war. The exhibition is part of the regular museum admission.
Hours are 9 AM-6 PM seven days a week. Tickets & Details: staugustinelighthouse.org#staugustinelighthouse#WWII#exhibit#uscoastguard#museum#staugustine#florida#tour#saintaugustine#staugustinebeach#nonprofit#maritimemuseum
