The man whose voice has long been synonymous with Nebraska football and baseball, Greg Sharpe, died Friday after a nearly yearlong bout with pancreatic cancer. Sharpe, who recently completed his 17th full football season as the lead radio play-by-play broadcaster for the Huskers, was 61. Through Nebraska, the family released a statement Saturday morning calling Sharpe a "wonderful husband, father, brother, friend and of course broadcaster" for NU.
