“Who cares if you’re good, as long as you’re having fun” my new mantra. The thing is, I set a high bar for everything I do. And then, when I reach that bar (or even get close), I move it. It’s always, “If I get to XYZ, then I’ll be good enough.” But because the bar keeps moving, I rarely let myself celebrate how far I’ve actually come. Truthfully, it’s not just running… I do this in almost every part of my life. And while it’s pushed me to do things I’m really proud of, it’s also gotten in the way of actually living in the moment and just enjoying life as it is. I was out on a run last week (the one in this video), and I ran into a friend at the trailhead who asked, “What are you training for?” I laughed and said, “Life.” And that’s the truth. I’m just out here moving my body because it feels good to feel strong. I love being outside, seeing what I’m capable of that day and THAT is what really matters.
