A moment I’ll never forget. Today, my son used the toilet for the first time, and I’m in tears writing this. What might seem like a small milestone to others was a massive mountain for us. For years, he’s struggled with even entering a bathroom. With a speech delay and developmental delays, every step has been on his own timeline, and that’s okay. But this step… this one was huge.
He sat. He peed. And I cried. Not just because he did it, but because I know how hard it’s been for him to get here. The fear, the challenges, the sensory struggles — he faced it all. And today, he overcame it. We are truly grateful for the support we received from his primary doctor, therapists, support team, and the incredible Chula Vista educators who helped him reach this milestone.
To any parent walking a similar journey: I see you. These moments matter more than words can say.
Today, I witnessed one of the greatest joys of parenting. I’m so proud of my brave little boy.
