👀 A happy 55th birthday to the Chaparral 2J! 🥳 When the Brabham BT46B was but a twinkle in Gordon Murray's eye, Jim Hall and Hap Sharp put together a boxy ground effect beast with three gears and two engines - one to power the car, and the other to power the fans from an M-109 Howitzer tank! 🪖
It made its race debut On This Day at Can-Am's 1970 visit to Watkins Glen in the expert hands of Sir Jackie Stewart, though it didn't finish - in fact, the 2J was eyewateringly fast but mechanically fragile, and only finished one round in 1970 before being banned. 🥀
(You could say...we're big fans 😍)
