Liverpool played its first match since the death of Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva, when the Reds faced Championship side Preston North End at Deepdale Stadium in a friendly on Sunday. A moment’s silence was observed before kickoff and Preston designed a commemorative edition of its matchday program to pay tribute to Jota and his brother. Later in the match, Liverpool fans sang the Portuguese forward’s song and gave an extended standing ovation in the 20th minute of the contest. Goalscorers Darwin Núñez and Cody Gakpo replicated their late-teammate’s videogame and “Baby Shark” celebrations in an emotional day. . . . #liverpoolfc #number20 #darwinnuñez (📸: Matt McNulty/Getty Images)
