The Dallas Stars are adding some flair to their bench hiring former figure skating star David Pelletier as their newest assistant coach, joining recently appointed head coach Glen Gulutzan’s staff. 🤯
The 50-year-old from Sayabec, Que., has spent the last 11 years as a skating coach with the Edmonton Oilers and is now getting his first shot as an NHL assistant coach. 😱
Pelletier’s decorated figure skating career includes a gold medal in pairs at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics with partner Jamie Salé. The duo also captured a world title, three Canadian championships, and shared the Lou Marsh Trophy (now the Northern Star Award) as Canada’s top athletes in 2001. ⛸️
Pelletier and Gulutzan are already familiar faces — Gulutzan spent the last seven seasons as an assistant with the Oilers before being named head coach of the Stars on July 1. He replaced Peter DeBoer, who was let go after Dallas fell to Edmonton in the Weste...
