In @nascar’s 77-year history, only 17 women have competed in the Cup Series. @katherineracing is the latest to join a legacy that began with Sara Christian, who raced in NASCAR’s very first Cup event (formerly known as the "Strictly Stock" series) in 1949 🏁 Only a handful of women have made it to the pinnacle of professional stock car racing, but over 130 women have either qualified or started in national and regional NASCAR-sanctioned events. At this year’s @nascarchicago street race, Legge stood as the only woman on the grid — finishing 19th out of 40 drivers in one of the sport’s most demanding circuits.
