My statement on the news out of Gaza this morning. — It has been reported that violence has resumed in Gaza, as an Israeli airstrike struck and killed 400 Palestinians, including women and children. The ceasefire is no more. In the past two weeks, the Israeli government has blocked off aid and has cut off food and fuel to Gaza. This is not the actions of a good faith negotiating partner in a ceasefire agreement. These actions and this violence will protect no one and only serves to benefit the political career of Benjamin Netanyahu and his government’s supporters. The international community, including our Canadian government, must come together to condemn these actions and take immediate steps to push for the continuation of the ceasefire agreement to ensure peace and justice for all in the region, the release of all hostages and an end to Israel’s blocking of aid, food and fuel.
