Enameled cast iron is much less maintenance than regular cast iron as it does not need to be seasoned.
The downsides are that enameled pieces can’t handle nearly as high of heat as regular cast iron and you need to be careful not to damage the enamel…
….mainly by…..abrasion.
Am I saying that cleaning your (regular) cast iron with salt will ruin the seasoning?
No.
But it’s certainly more abrasive than cleaning with soap and a sponge.
Soap is for cleaning, salt is for cooking.
