Next up in our #WhyMoody series is incoming utjschool student Alma Ruby Peña from Rio Grande City, TX! Alma chose to major in journalism after discovering the power of communication through pageantry. “I used to be incredibly shy, afraid to speak or be myself. However, through pageantry, I discovered my voice and gained the confidence to express myself authentically. It taught me the power of communication, and that’s what led me to pursue a career where I can use my voice to inform, inspire and connect with others.” She was drawn to #TEXASMoody because it was the perfect place for her to grow as a communicator. “I’m excited to learn from everyone around me and take advantage of hands-on opportunities that will prepare me for a career in broadcasting journalism.” This summer, Alma is cherishing time with family in the Rio Grande Valley and preparing to step into this new chapter at the Forty Acres.
