Meet Dwight DeBerry — a Memphis native making major moves in science, innovation, and impact. His journey from the Bluff City to a NASA internship is proof that passion + perseverance = purpose
Currently a senior at Tennessee State University (TSU), Dwight is earning dual degrees in Architectural Engineering AND Psychology (yes, both). But what got him to NASA? YEARS of quiet grind and groundbreaking research.
His work started with engineering projects under TSU professors like Dr. Parthasarathy and Dr. Chimba — focused on tensegrity structures and cable barriers for the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
“I didn’t realize at the time how valuable those moments were,” Dwight says. “But that research is what opened the door to NASA.”
