TRAGEDY IN ATLANTA: KAPPA BROTHER KILLED AT COMMUNITY PICNIC
ATLANTA — A tragedy unfolded at Coan Park in Atlanta on Saturday night when a peaceful fraternity gathering turned violent. A beloved member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. lost his life after a random man opened fire at a chapter-hosted picnic. Three others were injured, including the suspect.
Witnesses say the fraternity had secured a permit for the park event, which was meant to be a space for food, fun, and brotherhood. According to onlookers, the suspect — wearing a face covering — approached the group and initiated a confrontation with fraternity members. As brothers attempted to de-escalate the situation, the man pulled out a firearm and began shooting.
Multiple members with concealed carry permits returned fire, striking the suspect, who is now in critical condition. Two additional individuals were also injured — one shot and one grazed — and transported themselves to the hospital.
