Des Moines Public Schools' decision to substantially pare down its expensive multi-year plan to overhaul education still means big changes for several schools. The revised $265 million Reimagining Education, Reinvigorating Schools plan — if voters approve it this fall — would cover construction costs for building one new school and improving and adding on to several others. It also would expand the district's all-day 4-year-old preschool program, increase career and technical training and establish signature schools that focus on subjects such as the arts or STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), but on a smaller scale.
