As a third grader, Noemi Duncan dreamed of becoming a teacher — and even wrote it under her yearbook photo. This year, she graduated from UW Tacoma and accepted a job as a special education teacher at the very school where she did her student teaching. At commencement, she wore a stole decorated with painted handprints from the kindergarteners she’s been working with in her hometown of Lakewood.
