Walter and Wagner Caldas, better known by their stage name, The Brazilian Twins — or B2wins — have spent nearly 20 years charming Iowa audiences of all sizes with their infectious pop covers and charisma. But now, they’re preparing to leave the state they’ve long called home to spend more time with their aging parents. ⁠ ⁠ The brothers' journey from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro to the stages of Iowa began with a single NPR segment in 2006, when journalist Julie McCarthy introduced the world to the twin boys whose father built them violins to help keep them out of trouble.⁠ ⁠ That story led to an invitation to perform at the World Food Prize ceremony in Des Moines, and then full scholarships to UNI.⁠ ⁠ The brothers plan to keep making music in Brazil, and say new projects are already underway.
