If I have learned anything from my experiences with substance abuse, prison, and owning a treatment center, it is: ‘Don’t ever assume somebody’s story.’ Addiction is a disease, and these individuals are fighting battles we may never fully understand. I’ve been saying it for over a decade… Without empathy we can never be the catalyst of change for a person who’s lost everything and trusts no one.
