This week’s film friday feature celebrates the work of Los Angeles-based documentary and fine art photographer aidan.klimenko. Read on below at their path and approach to film photography, then give them a follow for more. “I learned to shoot film while studying photography at Montana State University. Unfortunately, I fell in love with it—this was back in 2010, before the recent spike in demand, and subsequently, cost... As a way to mitigate this I’ve started shooting more large format, which is by no means a cheaper medium, but it’s such a pain in the ass that it really makes you think about what it is you’re photographing, and truly slow down. I’m making less images, but my hit rate has spiked. And I’m finding that that discipline is translating to my medium format work (as seen above). I leave again for the great white continent (Antarctica) next week, with both my 4x5 and Mamiya 7ii in tow. More to come!” - words and photography by aidan.klimenko made on #Mamiya7ii with #Portra16...
