I will admit the majority of the majestic peak pics I post celebrate West Coast icons. But that’s not all there is! Out east, far beyond the 14ers you Colorado folks won’t shut up about, lies the ancient mountains of the Northeast. Though Mount Marcy and its many siblings in the Adirondacks have my heart, Mount Mansfield nearby in Vermont is another to be proud of. Somewhere between 400-500 million years old, it’s an old SOB that’s been beaten down by time. But when the lights right and the snow is fresh—as captured here by nathanaelasaro—it’s every bit as much a gem as its adolescent cousins 3,000 miles to the west.
