The first workshop of the African Film and Media Arts Collective has concluded in Lagos, part of Julie Mehretu’s collaboration for BMW Art Car #20 🎞️ For the inaugural workshop, AFMAC and BMW partnered with the non-profit organization Angels and Muse, located in Lagos’ Ikoyi neighborhood. Founded by renowned artist, writer, and designer Victor Ehikhamenor nearly a decade ago, Angels and Muse is a bridge for African creatives to the world and an important space for artists from the diaspora to return to. For one week, workshop participants, artists in the Collective, and members of Lagos’ creative community gathered amidst the lush vegetation and beautiful infrastructure of Angels and Muse to discuss and experiment with cinema as a form of intellectual infrastructure.
