Today, we honor the life and legacy of Thomas G. Sampson, Sr. ’68, a pioneering attorney, devoted public servant, and trailblazer for justice, whose life was defined by excellence, service, and a commitment to justice.⁠ ⁠ A native of Durham, North Carolina, and the son of educators and legal minds, Sampson followed in the footsteps of his father, Morehouse alumnus and NCCU Law Dean Daniel George Sampson ’38. After earning his undergraduate degree from Morehouse, he went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and later studied at the London School of Economics.⁠ ⁠ He co-founded Thomas Kennedy Sampson & Tompkins LLP, now Georgia’s oldest Black-owned law firm, where he practiced for over 50 years.
