This is one of my favorite approaches to improvising over a major II-V-I progression using the minor pentatonic scale in a creative and jazz-influenced way. 🎶 The Concept We’re starting with a II V I in F major, so the chords are:�Gm7, C7alt, and Fmaj7(#11). Here’s the idea: Instead of thinking modally or using typical bebop scales, we’ll use minor pentatonic scales starting from a strategic point: the fifth of the II chord.
