An annual celebration of beer and German folk culture that's been in Des Moines for 20 years is making a move to Ankeny. The organizer of Des Moines' Oktoberfest said it's always been the traditions of the festival that matter most, not the location. But she is excited about what Ankeny has to offer at Oktoberfest's new location in The District at Prairie Trail — which visitors can experience for themselves Sept. 26 and 27. Mindy Toyne, Oktoberfest's owner and organizer, said a scheduling conflict prompted the festival's move this year to Ankeny after two years at Des Moines Water Works Park.
