Former WCW star Marcus "Buff" Bagwell has undergone an above-the-knee leg amputation following a long battle with complications from a severe car accident in 2020. The news was confirmed Friday morning in a statement from Steve Stasiak of Book Pro Wrestlers. The surgery, which took place on Thursday morning, was the result of a five-year fight to save the limb that included over 30 operations, infections, and other painful complications. “After doing everything he could to avoid this outcome—through surgeries, infections, and a long, exhausting recovery—his fight has now taken a deeply challenging turn,” the statement read.
