🩷 The Panthermobile is one of the most flamboyant and iconic custom cars ever built, originally created in 1969 by Hollywood car designer Ed “Newt” Newton and constructed by Bob Reisner and Dan Woods for the opening credits of The Pink Panther Show.
Stretching over 23 feet long, it featured an exaggerated bubble canopy cockpit, exposed front wheels, wild tail fins, and a massive plush pink interior, meant to reflect the animated style of the Pink Panther character.
The vehicle was powered by an Oldsmobile V8 mounted in the rear and was not very practical—it could barely turn or stop—but its purpose was pure visual spectacle.
The car later became a collector’s item and changed hands at auctions, with periods of neglect and full restoration, cementing its place as a legendary piece of 1970s automotive pop culture.
