Last week, greenpeacekorea activist turned up in clean room suits with “methane”-spewing power plants outside the Seoul Administrative Court to protest the 6 gas power plants that were approved for construction without environmental checks.
On the same day, Greenpeace East Asia and 450 citizens filed a lawsuit against the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to say no to six LNG power plants, citing the absence of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
This is Korea’s first lawsuit challenging the approval of fossil fuel infrastructure projects prior to an EIA, starting a new era of climate accountability and justice! 👏👏
In the midst of a climate crisis, we don’t need more fossil gas power plants.
