By Chilean standards, Valle Nevado offers an impressive lift setup. It features one of only two high-speed quads in the country, as well as the only gondola at a Chilean ski resort. Together, these two lifts provide fast and efficient access to most of the resort’s frontside terrain. They’re supplemented by a mix of fixed-grip chairs and surface lifts that add some useful redundancy across the mountain. That said, Valle Nevado’s lift system is far from perfect. If you’re not comfortable using surface lifts, the resort’s backside terrain can be particularly challenging. This zone relies almost entirely on older, single-person platter lifts—many of which have unexpectedly strong recoil that can, to put it mildly, catch riders off guard.
