Sun Valley continues to stand out for its absolutely stunning views across the resort. The lower and mid-mountain areas offer charming vistas of Ketchum—a town that, unlike many ski destinations, has managed to retain a local, uncommercialized feel. But the real showstoppers are found higher up, especially in the bowls.
Up there, it feels like an entirely different world. The sweeping alpine views of surrounding snow-capped mountain ranges stretch endlessly into the distance. Thanks to varied elevation, the mountain sometimes experiences different weather patterns—and during an inversion, looking down is nothing short of breathtaking.
When they’re open, Sun Valley’s bowls are truly one of a kind. These high-alpine zones span across the expansive Lookout Ridge and can feel, to some visitors, like they go on forever. While the above-treeline sections are limited in length, the terrain is so vast and varied that it’s hard to ski the same line twice.
