Cross handed chipping is on the rise! 📈 But can it improve your short game? 🤔 Players are essentially taking the benefits of cross-handed putting and applying it to chipping. A cross-handed grip helps take the wrists out of the stroke and prevents golfers from either scooping under the ball or driving the hands too far forward — two common causes of chunks and mishits. Putting your lead hand low also helps level your shoulders — stopping that backward tilt that you get with a conventional grip that can also lead to chunks and thins. With level shoulders, you rotate better and hit down on the ball, giving you a clean, crisp strike. In a lot of cases, golfers find it creates a much more stable and repeatable motion with renowned coaches like Pete Cowen saying the grip leads to “perfect mechanics”.
