While Elias was in treatment, he created a creative and visionary bucket list. Over the past few months, it has grown extensive—full of places to go, people to see, and things he wishes to accomplish.
Thankfully, we have been able to start checking off some of the practical things he listed here and there. For example, one of his wishes was a family road trip. So, we loaded up our van and headed to Beverly(Hills that is, swimming pools, movie stars). No, just kidding.
It was a two-day road trip in the blazing hot sun; not one day of our stay in Fresno was less than 100 degrees. But that didn't stop us. We were able to check off Elias's wish to stay at a dog-friendly luxury hotel, order room service, and go swimming at the Marriot in Redding. Did I forget to mention that we brought our loud, quickly excited puppy, Solo, along with us too? It was our first long trip as a family of five, and although it wasn't easy with Solo, it definitely was worth the joy it brought to Lazarus & Elias.
