Nico Iamaleava must improve on the issues that plagued him last season. The 6-6 quarterback talent is now at UCLA after an NIL dispute caused a controversial exit out of Tennessee. No matter how much he is getting paid now at UCLA, Iamaleava has to take a leap in his second full season as a starter. Here are the three areas that need polish: 1) Deep ball accuracy Everybody knows Iamaleava has a rocket arm. But wasn’t consistent enough downfield last season, constantly overthrowing open receivers. Can he dial in his mechanics to help UCLA connect on more shot plays this season? 2) Freshman mistakes Running out of bounds on the last play of the game. Bad turnovers in big games. Poor ball placement on routes designed to take advantage of free yards. It all has to get cleaned up in 2025. 3) Response vs pressure This is what hurt Iamaleava the most in the CFB Playoff loss.
