While the collaboration delivered strong performance, it also faced criticism from enthusiasts who felt the car lacked a true Toyota identity.
Looking ahead, Toyota plans to build the next Supra completely in-house, debuting around 2027 with a new 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid engine developed by Toyota’s own performance division. This engine is expected to produce around 400 horsepower, blending traditional combustion with modern hybrid assistance for stronger torque and improved efficiency.
