Have you ever heard of the Black Morph (AKA “Ninja”) Manta? 🥷 It’s one of the most majestic creatures to encounter underwater & I nearly *cried* seeing so many of them on this dive in Micronesia. 🥹 See the nearly pitch-black ones? 🖤 Typical mantas have grey spots & white bellies, which you can also see in this video. But actually the Black Morph mantas aren’t a different species — they just have a rare genetic variation called melanism that makes them entirely black. (One of the few marine species that exhibit full-body melanism.) Diversity in nature — effortless and beautiful, coexisting without second thought.
